Quantock

Welcome

Welcome to the Quantock u3a, it may be just what you need!

u3a is a UK-wide network of learning and activity groups run by and for members who are not in full time work. For information about u3a in general please take a look at the National u3a Website. Quantock u3a started in May 2022 and serves the villages in and around the Quantock hills, filling in the gap between the Bridgwater, Minehead and Taunton u3a branches.

We are very much a fledgling u3a. Because of our rural catchment area we will never be large, but we aspire to being ‘small but beautiful’! We continue to grow steadily with over 100 members.

We currently have the following groups running successfully:

  • Birdwatching
  • Board Games
  • Book Club
  • Canasta
  • Classic Old Films
  • Climate Change and Environment
  • Creative Writing
  • Discovering The Natural World
  • Genealogy
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Local History
  • Lunch Club
  • Military History
  • Photography
  • Play Reading and Poetry
  • Rock Band
  • Theatre Matinees
  • Walking

Other groups under consideration or requiring members include:

  • Ambling
  • Beginners Golf
  • Card Making
  • French Conversation
  • Mah-jong
  • Opera Appreciation
  • Scrabble
  • Sewing and Quilting

Something for everyone? If you would like any other groups then please let us know.

Our monthly social meetings take place on the fourth Monday of the month and they are friendly and relaxed. Do encourage your friends to come along. Perhaps they will find that Quantock u3a is a great way to meet new people and try some new activities.

To join please contact Memberships or download a Membership FormFor more breaking news please see our Facebook pagePlease take a look at the Groups tab to see more information about the Interest Groups and see the Events tab for details of upcoming meetings

Some Groups have yet to start because a Convenor is needed to take the Group forward, if you think that you might like to volunteer, please contact the Groups Coordinator to discuss this. Most Groups would also welcome more membership – if any of these are for you please contact Memberships .

If you are already in a Group then the Group Convenor should be in touch with you directly – if you think that you have been missed out then contact the Groups Coordinator and they will ask the Group Leader to make sure that you are included.

We are looking for new committee members – so do look at the documents now on the website Policies And Roles and our Facebook page or contact us for more information about what is involved.
